INTRUDCUTION
NTI Institute of health management was established in 2022 as an in-services training institute under the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. NTI has been striving to provide an academic and professional environment for its student. It offers a very comprehensive, board-based public health curriculum, and dynamic learning experiences with highly qualified and trained faculty.
Pakistan and other regional neighboring countries are suffering from different Vector Borne Disease (VBDs) such as Dengue. Malaria, Leishmaniasis plague, CCHF, and other arbo-viruses that keep resurging or re-emerging causing considerable mortality and mordability. Pakistan specifically has faced severe health concerns due to the recent dengue, malaria and leishmaniasis outbreaks.
Recognizing the need for the capacity building in Medical Entomology and Disease Vector Control. Health Services Academy launched 12 months Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Entomology and Disease Vector Control (PGD-MEDVC) with the goal to fill the gap by training high quality students in the area of Medical Entomology and Disease Vector Control.
ADMISSION
The admissions are decided strictly on merit basis and absolute transparency. Application Procedure: Application must be made in the prescribed original application form available in the prospectus of the Institute. The Prospectus and application are available in Institute.A non- refundable application fee, as approved by HSA admission committee. from time to time, will have to be paid. Payment must be made via bank draft or pay order.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
- To fill the knowledge gap in medical entomology in country and best management of vector borne disease in local context.
- Provide trained human resources for operational control programs, applied basic research and academic fields including higher degree studies and teaching positions.
- To provide technical assistance to government, stockholders, and other partners to design the evidence based and sustainable control strategy for vector borne disease in country
- To develop liaison with other academic, research and capacity building institute/department and organization
- Upon completion, the graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Entomology and Disease Vector Control will be able to:
- Investigation the epidemiology of major vector borne disease and identify the vector species responsible for transmission of pathogens/disease.
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate vector control programs based on integrated vector and disease management approaches in accordance with the prevailing epidemiological, social and economic conditions.
- Apply acquired knowledge in the control and prevention of vector borne disease in the country.
EIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Basic Qualifications: Candidate should pass one of the following qualifications or an equivalent degree from a recognized university or accrediting body:
M.Sc./BSc Degree in
Biology/Zoology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Environmental Health sciences/Agriculture Entomology and Pharmacy/Nursing
MBBS/DVM/D Pharmacy.
Relevant MS Degree (in Biological and Bio Medical sciences)
Holders of one year (12 months) Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical
Entomology and Disease Vector Control (within 16 years of education) will be eligible to register into second year of MS Degree Programme and pass third and fourth semesters to obtain MS Degree
